- Management is focusing on converting land holdings into lifestyle communities to lift future earnings per security.
Ingenia Communities (ASX:INA) has rejected a $2.14 billion takeover proposal from Warburg Pincus, opting instead to advance its $992.4 million acquisition of Peet (ASX:PPC).
The board stated that the $5.25 per share proposal from the private equity group falls materially short of an acceptable valuation.
"We are committed to a transaction in the absence of an alternative,” said Ingenia Communities CEO John Carfi.
The company stated that combining with Peet could increase earnings per security by 11% based on historical figures, while opening 5,000 to 7,000 lots for potential land-lease development.
Ingenia stated it remains on track to complete the Peet acquisition by December unless a superior proposal emerges quickly.
Following the announcement, the Ingenia Communities share price was up at $4.70.
The company focuses on owning, managing, and developing affordable accommodation and lifestyle communities across Australia.
Its expansion plan relies on acquiring traditional residential developments to convert available lots into long-term land-lease communities.
