·       Singtel reportedly enters advanced negotiations to sell a 30% minority stake in its Australian subsidiary Optus to infrastructure investor Morrison for over $2 billion.

·       The potential transaction follows a strategic review by the Singaporean parent company to evaluate minority ownership options for the carrier.

·       Morrison is currently engaging major superannuation funds during a seven-week exclusivity period to finalise the acquisition consortium.

Infrastructure investor Morrison has reportedly entered advanced talks to acquire a 30% stake in Optus from Singtel for approximately $2.25 billion.

The move follows Singtel exploring minority ownership options for its Australian carrier after previous discussions with Brookfield concluded without an agreement.

Morrison priced the proposed transaction at six times earnings while offering investors significant blocking rights and potential postpaid price increases.

Optus generated $8.4 billion in operating revenue and $2.36 billion in earnings for the financial year ended March while navigating recent regulatory challenges.

The suitor Morrison manages more than $45 billion in assets and recently secured Sumitomo Mitsui Trust Bank as a strategic backer for its portfolio.
