Iltani Resources completes Orient project ore testing
- Iltani Resources finished initial ore sorting tests at its Orient Silver-Indium Project in North Queensland, increasing grade levels across sample batches.
- The company's shares rose 4.88% to $0.43 following the update.
- The processing technology aims to separate waste rock early, which the business reported could lower future processing and operational costs.
Iltani Resources (ASX:ILT) completed first-pass ore sorting test work at its Orient Silver-Indium Project in Queensland, achieving up to a 13.2-times average grade increase on low-grade samples.
The initial processing trial compared high-grade and low-grade rock samples to determine if ore sorting could separate valuable metals from waste material prior to primary milling.
"We selected a high-grade and a low-grade sample so we could better understand if ore sorting was viable at Orient, and the results clearly demonstrate that ore sorting works, and works well," said Iltani Managing Director Donald Garner.
The test on low-grade samples rejected 96% of waste mass while upgrading silver content from 26 grammes per tonne to 325 grammes per tonne.
Following the announcement, the Iltani Resources share price was up at $0.43.
The business is now planning a seven-hole diamond drilling programme to gather larger samples for the next phase of metallurgical testing.
Iltani Resources focuses on base metal and critical mineral exploration across its portfolio of projects in Queensland and Tasmania.
