Greatland Resources wins Havieron Project approvals
Greatland Resources (ASX:GGP) secured both primary environmental approvals required for the development and operation of its flagship Havieron Gold-Copper Project in Western Australia.
The Western Australian Minister for the Environment granted the state primary environmental approval (Part IV approval under the Environmental Protection Act 1986) on May 25.
The green light follows a positive recommendation from the WA Environmental Protection Authority and closely succeeds the federal environmental approval granted by the Commonwealth Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water on April 24.
With both state and federal clearances now finalised, Greatland is positioned to advance towards a final investment decision, which remains targeted for the current June quarter.
Meanwhile, early works and tendering for critical path project packages are already progressing on-site.
Current activities include boxcut tunnel installation, underground development, and preparations for blind-bore construction.
Havieron is a substantial underground mining project designed to deliver high-grade gold-copper ore to the nearby Telfer processing facility.
Once reaching steady-state production, the operation is anticipated to produce approximately 270,000 ounces of gold per annum at lowest-quartile costs, boasting an initial mine life of 17 years.
Greatland’s Managing Director, Shaun Day, stated that the milestone culminates successful stakeholder engagement and diligence, adding that the development has the potential to underpin a multi-decade, world-class mining hub in the Paterson Province alongside Telfer life extensions.
