Lunnon Metals (ASX:LM8) welcomed a news release from BHP (ASX:BHP) regarding an agreement to sell the Kambalda Nickel Concentrator to Gold Fields.
The facility sale comes after the concentrator was placed on care and maintenance during broader nickel market downturns.
The company stated that it looks forward to investigating potential opportunities arising from the proposed change of ownership.
Lunnon Metals controls the nearby Foster-Baker project, which hosts a resource of over 3 million tonnes at 3.0% nickel containing 95,000 tonnes of metal.
Following the announcement, the Lunnon Metals share price was unchanged at $0.34.
The Baker deposit within the project area holds regulatory approval for an underground mine proposal.
Lunnon Metals previously issued a scoping study for the Foster-Baker asset on July 21, 2025.
