Global Laser Enrichment secured preliminary approval for a comprehensive US$98.9 million incentives package from the Commonwealth of Kentucky and McCracken County.

The funding is earmarked for the development of the Paducah Laser Enrichment Facility, a project touted as the single largest capital investment in the region’s history.

As the exclusive licensee of the Australian-developed SILEX (ASX:SLX) uranium enrichment technology, GLE's expansion represents a leap forward in the domestic US nuclear fuel cycle.

The performance-based package is contingent upon GLE meeting specific investment and job creation milestones.

The financial boost complements a recent US$28.5 million award from the US Department of Energy, aimed at advancing next-generation laser-based enrichment.

Silex CEO Michael Goldsworthy noted that the project is currently navigating rigorous Nuclear Regulatory Commission licensing and detailed design phases.

The SILEX technology offers a competitive edge over traditional centrifuge methods due to its superior efficiency and throughput.

The PLEF is positioned to address the DOE's inventory of depleted uranium tails, with re-enrichment operations scheduled to commence by 2030.

The initiative has already seen approximately US$600 million in private investment across North Carolina and Kentucky.
