GenusPlus Group (ASX:GNP) has been awarded a landmark $110 million contract for the Koolunga Battery Energy Storage System Project.
Located in South Australia, approximately 6km south-east of Koolunga and 7km north-east of Brinkworth, this development represents a critical step in the nation’s transition towards a cleaner, more resilient power grid.
The project, owned by Asia-Pacific infrastructure giant Equis Development, has already cleared all necessary planning, environmental, and community impact assessments.
Under the terms of the lump-sum, turn-key agreement, GenusPlus will take full responsibility for the engineering, procurement, construction, and commissioning of the project.
Their scope includes the balance of plant works and the installation of the 200MW/800MWh battery energy storage system.
To integrate this massive storage capacity into the state’s electricity network, the facility will be linked to the 275kV Brinkworth Substation via approximately 1.2km of high-voltage cabling.
Managing Director David Riches hailed the contract as a "milestone project", noting that it underscores the market's trust in the company’s ability to execute large-scale, complex infrastructure.
Works are scheduled to commence shortly, with a projected completion date of September 2027.
At the time of reporting, GenusPlus Group’s share price was $9.02.
