European billionaire Olivier Goudet has further increased his stake in Treasury Wine Estates (ASX:TWE), the owner of renowned wine brands including Penfolds, Daou, Stags’ Leap, and Wolf Blass.

Goudet, who first emerged as a substantial shareholder late last year through his Luxembourg-based investment vehicle Platin SARL, initially acquired a 5.05% stake in TWE, valued at around $244 million.

He has since invested an additional $45 million, raising his holding to 6.13%.

The timing of Goudet’s latest purchases has drawn attention, coming after TWE reported a $687 million impairment on its US wine assets.

His second round of buying took place between Christmas Eve and mid-January, shortly after new CEO Sam Fischer joined the company on Dec. 1, 2025.

The Goudet-Liquard family also owns Chateau Charmail in France’s Bordeaux region, which they acquired in 2021.
