Fortuna Metals begins 5,000-metre drilling program

Fortuna Metals (ASX:FUN) has commenced a 5,000-metre aircore drilling programme at its Mkanda Project in Malawi.

The programme follows the company's acquisition of the asset in September last year.

"The team and I are pleased to have commenced aircore drilling at Mkanda which allows us to drill the high grade areas to the limit of the free dig saprolite," said Fortuna Metals CEO Tom Langley.

The company also completed 648 hand auger drillholes, bringing total project drilling to 10,713 metres at an average depth of 8m.

Following the announcement, the Fortuna Metals share price was unchanged at $0.11.

The company stated that the drilling activities are expected to support a maiden inferred resource estimate anticipated for release in July.

Management indicated that the broader strategy is to reposition the business from a discovery story into a developer of titanium and graphite.
