FirstWave Cloud Technology (ASX:FCT) entered into a high-tech collaboration with the University of the Sunshine Coast and Australia's national science agency, CSIRO.

The partnership, backed by an initial $264,982 funding package under the CSIRO Regional University Industry Collaboration program, aims to accelerate the commercial development of AI-powered network intelligence and compliance software.

The project is a multi-party investment, with UniSC contributing $168,982, complemented by $48,000 each from the Queensland Government and FirstWave.

By leveraging the expertise of UniSC’s Cyber Security Lab, the initiative will focus on building production-ready machine learning models designed to identify emerging security threats and reduce unplanned downtime for mission-critical infrastructure.

The new "state-aware" AI framework will be integrated into FirstWave’s existing NMIS and Open-AudIT platforms, which currently serve over 150,000 organisations across 178 countries.

By utilising real-world operational data to validate the models, the project not only supports Australia’s national priorities in digital resilience but also provides a clear path for FirstWave to monetise advanced AI capabilities globally.

CEO Danny Maher hailed the agreement as a vital step in executing the company's long-term AI strategy, ensuring that enterprise and government customers remain resilient against increasingly sophisticated cyber challenges.

At the time of reporting, FirstWave Cloud Technology's share price was $0.0040.
