First Au starts maiden drilling at First Hit mine
- First Au has launched its maiden reverse circulation drilling programme at the historic First Hit Gold Mine in Western Australia.
- The company commissioned an independent Perth-based firm to compile a maiden mineral resource estimate using the new drill data.
- The exploration initiative aims to test depth extensions at the site, which previously produced roughly 29,000 ounces of gold.
First Au (ASX:FAU) has commenced its maiden reverse circulation drilling programme at the First Hit Gold Mine, targeting depth extensions of a site that previously produced approximately 29,000 ounces of gold at 7.6g/t.
The site produced gold over a 15-month period in the early 2000s, establishing a historical high-grade production baseline for the current exploration programme.
"The commencement of drilling activities at First Hit signifies the company's intention to rapidly define and develop resources within our current tenure," said First Au Executive Chairman Daniel Raihani.
The initial drill campaign is scheduled to take approximately two weeks, with assay results expected to be available within the current quarter.
Following the announcement, the First Au share price was unchanged at $0.017.
The First Hit property is situated on granted mining licences, positioned 8km north of Ora Banda Mining's Riverina underground operation and 40km from the Davyhurst processing facility.
First Au recently engaged an independent Perth-based consultancy to deliver a maiden mineral resource estimate for the property, incorporating all fresh data gathered from the active drilling campaign.
