Netflix shares fell more than 7% in after-hours trading following the release of quarterly results that were largely in line with estimates but showed slight misses on earnings per share and revenue guidance for the third quarter. Evan Shapiro, Former Head of NBC Universal's SEESO streaming service and former president at IFC TV and Sundance Channel, explained that while Netflix won the initial streaming wars centered on subscriptions, the market has evolved into a 'free TV economy' dominated by platforms like YouTube and free ad-supported services such as Tubi and Roku Channel.
