EU Proposes Canada to Become First 'Associate Member'

European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen proposed Canada becoming the first associate member of the European Union. "I would like to work with you on opening the door for Canada to being the first associate member of the European Union," von der Leyen said during her state of the union address in Strasbourg, France, with Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney in attendance.
