  • eMetals started a 17-hole drilling programme across 2,072 acres at its tungsten project in Utah.
  • The project includes plans to test depths of 50m to 200m over five to six weeks.
  • The campaign aims to explore extensions of historical mines following the project acquisition in April.

eMetals (ASX:EMT) has commenced drilling activities across 109 mineral claims covering 2,072 acres at the Mineral Range Tungsten Project in Utah.

The programme follows the acquisition of the project earlier this year and targets tungsten mineralisation adjacent to historical mine sites that previously produced 634 tonnes of ore.

"Following extensive initial fieldwork and reconnaissance in the past few months, we are delighted to commence the drilling of the Mineral Range Tungsten Project so soon after announcing the acquisition of the Project early in April this year," said eMetals Executive Director Mathew Walker.

The exploration plan involves 17 drillholes from five pads with depths between 50m and 200m, with core samples scheduled for despatch to Reno, Nevada, for assaying.

Drilling work is expected to take five to six weeks to complete across the site's 12-kilometre strike length.

Following the announcement, the eMetals share price was unchanged at $0.042.

The company holds a 100% interest in the project area located in Beaver County, Utah.

The site features carbonate-skarn beds adjacent to the Mineral Range Batholith that provide potential for intrusion-related tungsten mineralisation.
