EcoGraf (ASX:EGR) announced a landmark non-binding memorandum of understanding with two Finnish titans, the Geological Survey of Finland and Betolar.

The tripartite collaboration aims to revolutionise how mineral tailings—the byproduct of graphite processing—are utilised, specifically targeting their conversion into high-performance, low-carbon building products.

The partnership leverages the unique strengths of each entity: GTK provides world-class geological research and sustainable materials expertise, while Betolar contributes its pioneering Geoprime® technology.

The technology is a game-changer for the construction industry, capable of reducing emissions by up to 80% through the creation of cement-free concrete.

The focus of this venture is EcoGraf’s Epanko Graphite Project, where Stage 1 production is expected to generate approximately 0.9 million tonnes of tailings annually.

By repurposing this waste as feedstock for sustainable construction materials, the initiative addresses two critical environmental challenges: reducing industrial waste and lowering the carbon footprint of the building sector.

The formalisation of this agreement took place at the Mining Indaba in Cape Town, witnessed by high-ranking officials, including the Finnish Minister of Economic Affairs.

At the time of reporting, EcoGraf's share price was $0.41.
