Duratec wins $68M Darwin ship lift contract
Duratec (ASX:DUR) has been awarded a $68 million subcontract for the Darwin Ship Lift Facility.
The contract, issued by the Clough BMD joint venture on behalf of the Northern Territory Government, tasks Duratec with the construction and commissioning of a dedicated blast and paint facility.
The specialised hub will also include a washdown bay slab and the installation of complex systems such as dust collectors, water treatment units, and advanced hydraulic and electrical utilities.
The Darwin Ship Lift facility is a cornerstone of the territory's strategy to transform the region into a premier maritime services hub.
Once operational, it will provide essential maintenance and servicing for a diverse range of vessels, including those operated by the Australian Defence Force and the Australian Border Force, alongside commercial fleets from the energy, tourism, and aquaculture sectors.
Duratec Managing Director Chris Oates stated that the award reflects the company’s decade-long commitment to the Northern Territory and its expertise in delivering complex infrastructure for the defence and marine sectors.
He emphasised that the project would play a vital role in enhancing Australia’s sovereign maritime capabilities while generating long-term value for stakeholders.
Work on the Blast and Paint Facility is scheduled to commence in June, with an expected completion date slated for mid-to-late 2027.
