Cyclopharm gains Chinese endorsement for Technegas imaging
- Seven Chinese medical bodies recommended Technegas as the preferred ventilation agent for lung imaging.
- The company stated the unanimous recommendation expands its global consensus following similar US and European guidelines.
- Cyclopharm aims to leverage existing provincial footprints and national nuclear medicine expansion across China.
Cyclopharm (ASX:CYC) announced that seven Chinese medical bodies published an expert consensus naming Technegas as the preferred lung ventilation imaging agent.
The new clinical guidelines build on joint US and international guidelines released in July that also recommended the radio-pharmaceutical.
Cyclopharm’s Managing Director and CEO, James McBrayer, said, "China's leading respiratory, pulmonary vascular and nuclear medicine bodies reviewed their own clinical experience, surveyed hospitals across China, and unanimously named Technegas the preferred ventilation agent.”
Under the operational protocol published in the Chinese Journal of Tuberculosis and Respiratory Diseases, alternative agents like DTPA aerosol should only be used if Technegas is unavailable.
The company stated the consensus will help standardise lung scanning and reporting protocols across hospital departments in China.
Following the announcement, the Cyclopharm share price was up at $0.495.
The medical bodies leading the publication include the Chinese Thoracic Society and the Chinese Association of Chest Physicians.
Technegas is currently used for screening, follow-up, and treatment response evaluation for conditions such as pulmonary embolism and chronic thromboembolic pulmonary hypertension.
