The Federal Court of Australia has dismissed proceedings brought by Greenpeace Australia Pacific against Woodside Energy (ASX:WDS), concluding a high-profile legal challenge regarding the energy giant’s climate strategy.

The case, originally filed in December 2023, was dismissed by consent on April 22, with both parties agreeing to cover their own respective legal costs.

The dispute centred on allegations that Woodside’s public disclosures and emissions reduction targets were misleading or lacked a credible basis.

While Greenpeace argued that the company’s transition strategy was overstated, Woodside maintained that its statements were accurate and transparent.

At the time of reporting, Woodside Energy’s share price was $31.04.
