Coronado Global Resources appoints new CEO
- Coronado Global Resources appointed Barend van der Merwe as CEO effective from Aug. 1.
- The company's share price remained unchanged at $0.16 following the leadership announcement.
- The leadership transition aims to return the business to profitability and reduce its outstanding corporate debt.
Coronado Global Resources (ASX:CRN) appointed CFO Barrie van der Merwe as CEO, effective Aug. 1.
Van der Merwe has served as the mining company's finance chief and executive leadership team member since 2025.
"I am pleased to hand leadership of Coronado to Barrie," said Coronado Global Resources Interim CEO Gerry Spindler.
Founder Gerry Spindler will step down from his interim leadership role but will remain as a non-executive director.
Following the announcement, the Coronado Global Resources share price was unchanged at $0.16.
The producer exports a full range of metallurgical coal products to the global steel industry from its various operations.
The mining business currently maintains operating assets located across Queensland in Australia and multiple states within the United States.
