  • Commonwealth Bank has permanently appointed two interim technology executives to its leadership team.
  • The lender's share price finished lower at $162.23 following the operational announcement.
  • The dual-role structure aims to accelerate digital delivery and strengthen accountability across artificial intelligence platforms.

Commonwealth Bank (ASX:CBA) permanently appointed two internal executives to its split technology leadership team effective July 1.

The appointments follow the departure of former technology head Gavin Munroe, after which Victoria Ledda and Rodrigo Castillo took interim control.

“The pace of change in technology and AI means we need focused, hands-on leadership across both business-aligned technology delivery and the enterprise technology foundations that support the Group,” said Commonwealth Bank CEO Matt Comyn.

Ledda will oversee business-aligned technology strategy while Castillo manages enterprise foundations, engineering, security, and artificial intelligence capabilities.

Following the announcement, the Commonwealth Bank share price was down at $162.23.

The management changes come as the bank navigates macroeconomic shifts, including an investor capital transition from residential to commercial real estate.

Additionally, the latest consumer spending indicators from the bank show that elevated interest rates have begun slowing discretionary household expenditures.
