US Suspends Visa Program for Tech Firms Including Microsoft

Bloomberg's Wendy Benjaminson said that President Trump is balancing shoring up support from tech firms for his vision of an AI future with a base that remains anti-immigration, as the Trump administration suspends an immigration program for multiple tech firms including Microsoft. Benjaminson also discussed President Trump's announcement on Truth Social that the US would not be striking Iran until after the midterm elections, saying that even without strikes voters aren't going to forget the impact of war with Iran on affordability.

Debating Donalds Won't Further Inform Public, Says FL Gov Candidate Jolly

David Jolly, the Democrat candidate for Governor in Florida, said that debating Republican Byron Donalds won't further inform the public and would just platform division and vitriol in the race. Jolly, who served in Congress as a Republican, said that he is honest with voters about the ideological differences between himself and Democrat Senate candidate Angie Nixon and that he is less worried about the rise of socialism in America than he is 'right-wing authoritarianism.'

Fed's Musalem Signals Rates Should Rise Next Six-to-Nine Months

St. Louis Fed president Alberto Musalem said that interest rates will have to increase over the next six to nine months in order to bring inflation down in a 'timely manner,' but stopped short of endorsing a rate hike at the Fed's October meeting. Musalem, speaking with Bloomberg's Mike McKee at the Future of Fixed Income conference in New York, said that he goes into every meeting without 'prejudging' the outcome.

Trump Says US Won't Attack Iran Before Midterm Election

Jen Gavito, a senior advisor at the consultancy firm Cohen Group and a former State Department official, said that it is 'unusual' for a president to signal that he will or will launch an attack, as President Trump posted on Truth Social that the US would not strike Iran again until after the Midterm elections. Gavito said that even if the US decides to attack Iran again, military strikes 'can't be the strategy or the end game in of itself.'

Some French IG Bonds Seem Safer Than Sovereign

Bloomberg's Ronan Martin joins Scarlet Fu on "Bloomberg Real Yield." Nearly 215 billion ($241 billion) of France's corporate bonds now trade as if they were safer than the government's, an almost 18-fold increase since the start of 2026, after a punishing sovereign debt selloff. Some 38% of France's total pool of high-grade company debt was indicated at lower yields than government securities of similar maturity on Wednesday.

Union Square Ventures Doubles Fund Size for the AI Era

New York City-based venture firm Union Square Ventures is reinventing itself to better compete in the AI race by nearly doubling the size of its core fund, raising $900 million in new money, including $500 million for its latest early-stage fund. The firm is also whittling down its general partnership to just four investors - including Nick Grossman. He joins Ed Ludlow on "Bloomberg Tech."
