
Canadian Phosphate starts drilling at Wapiti Phosphate Project
- Canadian Phosphate (ASX:CP8) has commenced its 2026 drilling programme comprising approximately 3,000m at the Wapiti Phosphate Project in British Columbia.
- Following the announcement, Canadian Phosphate shares remained unchanged at $0.12.
- The company aims to establish an updated mineral resource estimate to support agricultural and battery supply chain studies.
Canadian Phosphate (ASX:CP8) has commenced a 3,000-metre resource drilling programme at its flagship Wapiti Project in British Columbia.
The site work follows 12 months of permitting, customer engagement, and downstream processing studies by the mineral exploration firm.
"Commencing drilling at Wapiti marks an important milestone in the evolution of Canadian Phosphate," said Canadian Phosphate Managing Director Daniel Gleeson.
Geological consultancy Dahrouge Geological Consulting is managing the field operations to supply material for future metallurgical testing.
Following the announcement, the Canadian Phosphate share price was unchanged at $0.12 as management targets updated resource estimates.
The company stated that the project aims to evaluate phosphate suitability for fertilisers and lithium iron phosphate batteries.
The exploration campaign is supported by a recently completed $5.2 million capital raising across its North American mineral portfolio.
