Brightstar Resources (ASX:BTR) announced an operational milestone by executing a strategic framework agreement with Aquirian (ASX:AQN) for comprehensive drill and blast services at its Goldfields Hub.

The five-year partnership is designed to streamline open-pit operations, beginning with a specific three-year contract awarded to Aquirian’s subsidiary, Drillforce WA, for the Lord Byron mine.

Operations at the site are currently targeted to commence in the second half of 2026.

The collaboration introduces advanced, proprietary technology to Brightstar’s assets, notably the Collar Keeper System integrated into new Epiroc T45 rigs.

The automated design is expected to drive substantial efficiency gains by improving fragmentation while preserving ore quality.

By optimising these blasting practices, Brightstar aims to minimise mining dilution and enhance overall ore recovery, which directly correlates to improved revenue and lower load-and-haul costs.

Beyond technical efficiency, the agreement emphasises cost reduction and safety.

The removal of traditional PVC piping in blastholes is set to lower direct expenses and mitigate risks of crusher downtime.

Furthermore, the automated features of the Drillforce rigs reduce the amount of time operators must spend outside the cabin, improving the safety environment within the open pit.

Supporting the field operations is Aquirian's Wubin facility, the largest independent energetic material manufacturing and storage site in Western Australia, ensuring a robust and reliable supply chain for the duration of the project.
