Breakthrough Minerals (ASX:BTM) has commenced a 4,000-metre resource expansion drilling programme at its Turpentine deposit in Queensland.

The targeted site currently holds an inferred mineral resource of 8.7 million tonnes at 1.16% copper equivalent.

“Turpentine is a cornerstone deposit for Breakthrough, and this programme marks an important step in our strategy to grow our North Queensland copper-gold resource base,” said Breakthrough Minerals Managing Director Nigel Broomham.

The company stated that a separate 2,500-metre drilling programme is also planned to advance priority targets across Hazel Creek.

Following the announcement, the Breakthrough Minerals share price was up at $0.17.

The exploration firm previously operated under the name Intra Energy Corporation before renaming the business in December 2024.

The business maintains a diversified mining portfolio with separate assets located across Western Australia and Quebec, Canada.
