BlueScope upgrades H1 FY27 earnings guidance to $1.1B
Key points
- BlueScope Steel updated its first-half earnings guidance.
- The company expects underlying EBIT to approach $1.1 billion.
- Stronger North American steel spreads and domestic demand drove the revision.
BlueScope Steel (ASX:BSL) raised its first-half underlying earnings before interest and tax guidance towards $1.1 billion.
The revised figure exceeds the company's prior guidance range of $860 million to $960 million.
"The increase is primarily driven by stronger than anticipated earnings from North Star on stronger US steel spreads, along with improved performance at Buildings and Coated Products North America and Australian Steel Products," said BlueScope Steel Managing Director and CEO Tania Archibald.
The North Star unit expects results to increase by nearly three-quarters compared to the second half of fiscal 2026.
The company stated that market conditions remain dynamic across its core geographic segments.
Following the announcement, the BlueScope Steel share price was unchanged at $32.36.
BlueScope operates flat steel production facilities across Australia, New Zealand, and North America.
The group supplies premium coated and painted steel products to building and construction markets globally.
