Bayan Mining commences maiden drilling at REE Project

Share

Bayan Mining and Minerals (ASX:BMM) commenced its maiden reverse circulation drilling programme at its wholly-owned Desert Star Rare Earth Project in California, USA.

The exploration campaign aims to test high-grade surface mineralisation, following previous sampling results that yielded up to 66,810 ppm total rare earth oxides, or 6.68% TREO.

The drilling targets are strongly reinforced by compelling, coincident geophysical signatures, including radiometric, magnetic, and gravity anomalies that indicate a high-density, low-susceptibility prioritised body.

Geological assessments reveal a strong light rare earth element assemblage, with a neodymium-praseodymium magnet REE component making up 23% to 29% of the TREO.

Operations have moved swiftly following the safe completion of vital infrastructure, including site preparation, access road upgrades, and drill pad construction.

The Desert Star Project is located just 4.5km northeast of MP Materials’ Mountain Pass REE Mine—one of the largest and highest-grade rare earth operations globally—and shares critical regional geological characteristics with it.

The company’s Desert Star North Project lies a mere 3km north of the Colosseum Gold Mine.

Following completion, core samples will be immediately dispatched to ALS Reno for processing.
