Australian ETF market hits $372B
- The Australian exchange-traded fund industry reached a total value of $372.1 billion in June.
- Investors added a record $61.6 billion into exchange-traded funds over the past financial year.
- Sector growth was driven by demand for healthcare, semiconductor, and small-cap focused funds.
The Australian exchange-traded fund market reached a total value of $61.6 billion in the sector over the financial year.
The market expanded by $8 billion during the single month of June, representing an asset increase of 32.7% over the past year as the total number of listed products reached 494.
Investors have added approximately $53 billion in total inflows recorded last year.
Biotechnology, semiconductor, and small-cap sectors led the market performance during June as artificial intelligence infrastructure spending continued to support technology infrastructure valuations.
The Global X S&P Biotech ETF (ASX:CURE) gained 20.2% during the month, while the Global X Semiconductor ETF (ASX:SEMI) rose 15.9% ahead of the Betashares Global Momentum ETF (ASX:MTUM).
Following the announcement, the Betashares Global Momentum ETF share price was unchanged at $12.50.
The broader expansion reflects an increasing number of traditional asset managers re-packaging their flagship investment strategies into exchange-traded formats to access retail audiences.
Despite the recent growth, exchange-traded products still represent a minor single-digit percentage of the broader managed funds industry across the domestic Australian financial market.
