Energy Minister Chris Bowen has confirmed that Australia’s liquid fuel security is bolstered "well into" May, as international supply chains stabilise despite ongoing global volatility.

Speaking at a media conference in Sydney, Bowen announced that authorities have contracted and legally secured shipments for the coming month, extending the nation's supply window beyond previous end-of-April estimates.

The minister noted a marked improvement in domestic availability over the Easter long weekend.

National data reveals that service stations reporting diesel outages have plummeted from over 400 on Good Friday to 274.

New South Wales remains the most affected region, with a 6% outage rate attributed to the prioritisation of the agricultural sector.

"New South Wales has been higher because farmers are seeding and sowing," Bowen explained, though he emphasised that these figures are trending downward.

To maintain this momentum, a fleet of 53 tankers is currently en route to Australian ports from refineries in Asia, the United States, and Mexico.

A joint trade commitment with Singapore has been finalised, with similar diplomatic efforts led by Prime Minister Anthony Albanese and Foreign Minister Penny Wong to secure additional deals across Asia.

While the national stockpile remains steady at 39 days for petrol and 29 for diesel, the Prime Minister has urged citizens to utilise public transport where possible.
