Austal names Eugene Miller president of US subsidiary
Global shipbuilder Austal (ASX:ASB) appointed Eugene Miller as the permanent president of its US-based subsidiary, Austal USA.
Miller, who has been steering the American arm on an interim basis since February, steps into the role permanently as the company seeks to stabilise operations and maintain progress across its substantial defence contracts.
Miller brings over two decades of heavy maritime experience to the position. He joined the Alabama-headquartered shipbuilder in 2024 as vice president of operations before being elevated to chief operating officer in May 2025.
His extensive industry pedigree includes more than 16 years in senior leadership at rival US Navy builder General Dynamics Bath Iron Works, alongside a subsequent tenure as an amphibious ship programme manager for Ingalls Shipbuilding.
In his permanent capacity, Miller assumes full command of a workforce exceeding 3,000 shipbuilding professionals in Mobile, Alabama.
He takes absolute responsibility for all facets of Austal USA’s multi-billion-dollar order book, advanced ship manufacturing facilities, and expanding global support services.
Austal CEO Paddy Gregg emphasised that the permanent appointment is designed to ensure operational continuity.
"His appointment will maintain momentum across key programmes and strengthen the supply chain and customer relationships that support Austal USA’s performance," Gregg said.
"He understands what it takes to grow Austal USA capabilities, deliver for our customers and position the business for long-term success."
At the time of reporting, Austal's share price was $4.10.
