Aurora Labs secures Maiden US defence purchase order
- Aurora Labs secured its first US purchase order valued at US$42,000 for three AU4 turbojet engines and product integration services.
- The agreement establishes the company's initial propulsion customer relationship in the US defence and aerospace market.
- The customer intends to test the technology on an experimental aircraft programme to explore additional aerospace applications.
Aurora Labs (ASX:A3D) secured its maiden US purchase order valued at US$42,000 for three AU4 turbojet engines and product integration services.
The contract establishes an initial US propulsion customer relationship to complement the company's existing Australian operations and European commercialisation activities.
The customer selected the system because they believe the company's approach to additively manufactured turbines offers them an advantage.
CEO Andrew Garth said, “Our first US engine sale is a practical step in expanding Aurora’s international customer base. While the initial order is modest in value, it gives us an opportunity to demonstrate our propulsion technology with a US customer and build our presence in a larger aerospace and defence market.”
Under the terms of the agreement, the unnamed US customer will integrate the engines into an experimental aircraft programme.
The transaction expands the company's international reach following an $250,000 order for 20 AU4 units from Sovereign Propulsion Systems and a European teaming agreement with MBDA.
Following the announcement, the Aurora Labs share price was unchanged at $0.057.
The Western Australia-based company specialises in 3D metal printing technology and the design of micro turbojet engines for defence applications.
The company stated that its additive manufacturing process allows for rapid prototyping and local production of complex propulsion components.
