ASX names Veteran Anthony Attia as new CEO
The ASX (ASX:ASX) announced the appointment of Anthony Attia as its new Managing Director and CEO, effective from Sept. 1.
Attia, a seasoned veteran with nearly thirty years of experience across European and US jurisdictions, arrives with an impressive pedigree from institutions including Euronext, Intercontinental Exchange, and NYSE Euronext.
His background covers the entire exchange value chain, from primary listings to complex post-trade services such as clearing and settlement.
ASX Chair David Clarke expressed strong confidence in the appointment, noting that Attia’s proven track record in technology-enabled transformation is essential for leading "critical market infrastructure" through its next evolutionary phase.
Attia’s previous leadership was instrumental in the carve-out and 2014 IPO of Euronext, where he later served as CEO of Euronext Paris.
Upon his appointment, Attia remarked on the "pivotal moment" facing the ASX, stating his commitment to strengthening the exchange's role as a steward of infrastructure and positioning it as a premier capital markets hub within the Asia Pacific region.
The transition follows the departure of current CEO Helen Lofthouse on May 29.
To bridge the gap until Attia’s arrival in September, Darren Yip, the current group executive of markets and listings, will serve as interim CEO.
