Ark Mines (ASX:AHK) has signed a memorandum of understanding with an established technology provider to launch a strategic processing trial at its Sandy Mitchell Rare Earths Project in Queensland.

Commencing in February, the small-scale program will utilise existing low-cost "cracking" technology to extract Thorium, Neodymium, and Praseodymium from monazite ore.

The collaborative effort covers the entire processing scope, from initial chemical analysis to the production of refined oxides, aimed at de-risking the project for future large-scale development.

Managing Director Ben Emery noted that the trial is a pivotal step in positioning Sandy Mitchell as a key supplier for the global critical minerals sector, particularly for high-demand applications in defence and clean energy.

At the time of reporting, Ark Mines' share price was $0.48.
