Anthropic brings Mythos AI model to Australia

Share

Artificial intelligence lab Anthropic has extended access to its Mythos model to Australian organisations as part of a staggered global release designed to patch security vulnerabilities before they can be exploited by hackers.

Coming just one day after the San Francisco-based company filed for a US$1 trillion-plus initial public offering, the expansion grants Mythos access to 150 new entities across more than 15 countries.

While Anthropic confirmed Australian inclusion, it declined to name specific local companies or government agencies.

However, the tech giant previously briefed the Treasury, the Reserve Bank of Australia, and stewards of the nation’s critical infrastructure, meaning national security bodies are likely front of the queue.

Mythos, Anthropic’s most advanced model to date, has proven exceptionally adept at identifying software and network flaws.

The latest rollout expands access to critical sectors including power, water, healthcare, and communications.

According to a company statement, many new partners are vendors maintaining codebases relied upon globally, where a successful cyberattack could prove catastrophic.

The phase follows Anthropic's "Project Glasswing" initiative launched on April 7, whose task force tested the AI with 50 Wall Street and technology firms, uncovering over 10,000 critical vulnerabilities in systemically important software.

The global expansion also coincides with a major regulatory shift in Washington; US President Donald Trump has signed an executive order requesting tech firms voluntarily submit cutting-edge models to the US government for oversight and testing 30 days prior to public release.
