Antares Metals begins maiden Queensland copper drilling
Antares Metals (ASX:AM5) has commenced its maiden drilling programme at the Conglomerate Creek prospect, a key component of its wholly-owned Mount Isa North Copper Project in northwest Queensland.
The exploration initiative features an approximate 1,000-metre reverse circulation drilling campaign specifically designed to deliver the first-ever subsurface testing of seven high-priority, buried geophysical anomalies.
Drilling operations are currently underway at Target 2, aiming to evaluate a significant buried intrusion that has never previously been drill tested.
The programme is backed by exceptional historical surface data, including previously reported rock chip sampling that returned grades of up to 21.30% copper, 1.72 g/t gold, and 506 g/t silver from a 220-metre-long mineralised vein system situated northeast of the primary geophysical targets.
Antares has launched a comprehensive new field campaign to advance geological mapping, structural interpretation, and future drill targeting across the tenement.
Geologists are encouraged by the presence of elevated critical pathfinder elements—including bismuth, tungsten, antimony, and selenium—alongside the copper, gold, and silver mineralisation.
The geochemical and geophysical signatures strongly support the geological case for a large-scale, intrusion-related mineral system driven by the Conglomerate Creek intrusion as its primary heat source.
