  • American Tungsten & Antimony has appointed Metso Finland Oy to undertake a conceptual expansion study for its refinery.
  • Shares in the company fell 4% following the project announcement.
  • The study aims to establish domestic tungsten conversion capability to support US defence and industrial needs.

American Tungsten & Antimony (ASX:AT4) has appointed Metso Finland Oy to undertake an FEL1 concept study for an ammonium paratungstate production circuit at its Del Sol Refinery in Nevada.

The move follows the company's conditional acquisition of the Del Sol Refinery on July 28.

"The capital and operating cost estimates from the study will enable the company to engage US funding programmes available for the support of domestic critical minerals sovereignty and independence," said American Tungsten & Antimony CEO Casper Adson.

The initial study will assess a Phase 1 design capacity of 2,500 tonnes per annum of ammonium paratungstate, with potential future expansion options reaching 5,000 tonnes per annum.

Following the announcement, the American Tungsten & Antimony share price was down at $0.072.

Metso reported sales of approximately €5.3 billion in 2025 and employs around 18,000 people across 50 countries.

The company stated that the study will form the technical foundation for future applications under United States federal critical minerals funding programmes.
