
Alphabet executes $5.5B Australian debt issuance
- Alphabet finalised a $5.5 billion debt issuance within the Australian corporate bond market.
- The transaction generated $18 billion in orders, allowing the business to secure lower borrowing costs.

Alphabet (NASDAQ:GOOGL) raised $5.5 billion in an Australian corporate debt transaction.
The final allocation exceeded the initial $4 billion target due to institutional investor demand.
“The transaction is further validation of the growing importance and sophistication of the Australian corporate bond market,” said Aware Super head of defensive assets Sonia Baillie.
The debt sale included four maturity tranches ranging from three to 20 years.
Industry analysts project technology competitors will execute similar offerings.
Following the announcement, the Alphabet share price was unchanged at $160.
Domestic buyers secured 60% of the offering as technology firms expand global capacity.
Goldman Sachs (NYSE:GS) estimated that investment-grade technology bond issuances could reach $566 billion globally by 2027.
