Alligator Energy hits 70% uranium recovery milestone
Alligator Energy (ASX:AGE) announced a breakthrough at its Samphire Project in South Australia, achieving a 70% uranium recovery rate during initial field trials.
The milestone, reached over 70 pore volume exchanges in the first well pattern, marks a critical step in validating the technical and economic viability of the site’s in-situ recovery operations.
The trial results confirmed high-level performance across several key metrics, with solution grades averaging 115 milligrammes per litre of uranium oxide.
The project recorded flow rates exceeding five litres per second, demonstrating superior permeability within the palaeochannel system compared to industry benchmarks.
CEO Andrea Marsland-Smith described the achievement as a "key de-risking milestone", noting that the results align perfectly with the model assumptions laid out in the company’s 2023 scoping study.
Technical teams attributed the success to a combination of proficient well design and bespoke reagent mixing ratios, which ensured efficient lixiviant contact with mineralised zones.
Reagent consumption was categorised as "highly favourable" by international standards, suggesting a cost-effective leaching environment with minimal losses.
Furthermore, downstream ion exchange and elution processing delivered a 98% recovery rate.
Alligator Energy is now preparing to commence a second well pattern in the coming weeks.
The next phase will target lower-grade, less permeable margins of the mineralised system to further refine hydrogeological understanding.
At the time of reporting, Alligator Energy’s share price was $0.041.
