Private Credit Concerns Grow as Execs See Tough Times Ahead

Concerns have been bubbling up over the $1.8 trillion private credit market in recent weeks, with investors spooked in part by the risk of artificial intelligence on some borrowers and worries about valuations. Last month, a Blue Owl Capital Inc. fund opted to halt quarterly redemptions and started selling assets to return money to investors. This week, Blackstone Inc.'s flagship private credit fund allowed investors to redeem a record 7.9% of shares. JPMorgan Chase & Co. CEO Jamie Dimon has spoken of failed corporate borrowers as "cockroaches," suggesting there could be more. Bloomberg News Chief Correspondent for Private Capital Davide Scigliuzzo joins Bloomberg Businessweek Daily to discuss. He speaks with Carol Massar and Tim Stenovec.

US Stock Selloff Shows No Signs of Easing as Iran War Grinds On

US stocks slid Thursday, rocked by another turbulent session as the escalating conflict in the Middle East raised the prospect of sustained disruptions to energy markets and oil prices, with implications for inflation and global commerce. Stocks swung sharply over the course of the day as widening strikes in Iran and neighboring countries had investors pricing and re-pricing the duration and potential impact of the conflict as volatility spiked. Toward the close of trading, a report that the US is considering emergency measures to stabilize crude led a bounceback from session lows, though worries over the outlook for oil remain. Clear Harbor Asset Management CEO Aaron Kennon joins Bloomberg Businessweek Daily to discuss. He speaks with Carol Massar and Tim Stenovec.

Iran War Oil Shock Threatens to Unleash Wave of Global Inflation

President Donald Trump's war with Iran threatens to deal a severe blow to a global economy still grappling with the impact of his historic tariff hike. For Europe, sustained higher energy prices would take the economy to the brink of recession. For the US, they would place the Federal Reserve in an impossible position stuck between a war that pushes inflation higher and a president demanding that interest rates come down. For China, the end of discounted Iranian oil imports adds to strain from Trump's tariffs and a real estate collapse. In the first days of the fighting, the intensity is high and the endgame uncertain. Bloomberg Economics has modeled scenarios for what lies ahead, and what they mean for oil prices, major economies, and the future of Iran. Jennifer Welch, Bloomberg Economics Chief Geoeconomics Analyst, joins Bloomberg Businessweek Daily to discuss. She speaks with Carol Massar and Tim Stenovec.
