  • US Senator Cynthia Lummis expects a Senate vote on the CLARITY Act before lawmakers leave for their August recess.
  • The legislation needs at least 60 Senate votes to overcome a filibuster and advance through Congress.
  • No vote was scheduled as of Wednesday, leaving lawmakers only a few business days before the Senate recess begins.

US Senator Cynthia Lummis expects the Senate to vote on the CLARITY Act before its month-long August recess begins.

The House passed the crypto market structure legislation in July 2025 by 294 votes to 134, but Senate consideration remains unresolved.

“It’s just time to get people on the record,” said US Senator Cynthia Lummis.

The Senate needs 60 votes to invoke cloture, while its Wednesday calendar showed no CLARITY vote scheduled.

Senate Majority Leader John Thune was reportedly planning a vote before Saturday, although lawmakers had not publicly confirmed the timetable.

Democratic opposition has focused partly on stronger ethics provisions concerning US President Donald Trump’s digital asset investments.

Republican Senator Josh Hawley has also reportedly withheld support over banking concerns despite a compromise involving stablecoin yield provisions.
