DogeOS has opened its public testnet, giving developers an EVM-compatible environment for Dogecoin (DOGE) applications.
The testnet supports applications across trading, lending, stablecoins, gaming and commerce ahead of mainnet development.
“The testnet gives builders a place to turn ideas for Dogecoin into working applications,” DogeOS Founder and CEO Jordan Jefferson said in a statement.
Existing ecosystem projects include Barkswap, Superposition Finance, Derps, Split Markets and USDoge.
“The teams joining this ecosystem are tackling the pieces DOGE has been missing: markets, financial tools, games and more ways to use Dogecoin,” Jefferson said.
DogeOS also provides a path for developers using EVM-compatible tools to build applications for Dogecoin.
The project expects to add developer tools, integrations and ecosystem projects as testnet development continues.
Following the update, DOGE was trading up 0.6% at $0.09432.
