Dogecoin (CRYPTO:DOGE) faces a scheduled September 14 launch for SpaceX’s DOGE-1 lunar mission.
The mission was announced in 2021 and has been delayed several times since then.
The satellite was fully funded through Dogecoin payments, linking the mission directly to the cryptocurrency.
Dogecoin was trading near $0.073 when TheStreet published its report, about 90% below its $0.74 peak.
TheStreet reported that two US-listed Dogecoin ETFs held about $20 million combined at the time.
Musk has also said he plans to place a physical Dogecoin on the Moon, potentially in 2027, but that is separate from DOGE-1.
The September mission gives Dogecoin a specific market event, although its effect on the token price remains uncertain.
At the time of reporting, Dogecoin price was $0.06986.
