  • Stripe announced the upcoming launch of Stripe Capital in Australia to provide small and medium-sized businesses with flexible financing options.
  • The company reported surpassing one million users across Australia and New Zealand, with tens of thousands of new users joining monthly.
  • Leadership stated that the new financing product aims to help local businesses manage cash flow and navigate rising operating costs.

Stripe announced plans to introduce its small business financing platform to local merchants alongside reaching a milestone of 1 million users across Australia and New Zealand.

The expansion follows similar product rollouts in overseas markets where digital payment providers have increasingly moved into embedded financial services to capture merchant lending revenue.

"SMBs are the backbone of the Australian economy, but around half report difficulty securing funding," said Stripe Managing Director for Australia and New Zealand Karl Durrance.

The upcoming financing offering will utilise merchant payment history data to provide pre-approved funding options with disbursements typically delivered within one to two business days.

The company stated that the financing rollout is designed to support regional businesses as they address ongoing macroeconomic hurdles and operational cost pressures.

Stripe operates as a global technology company that builds economic infrastructure for the internet, processing over US$1.4 trillion in payments annually.

The firm has historically focused on online payment processing before expanding into software suites covering billing, fraud prevention, and corporate lending.
