  • The deal would expand Stripe’s AI infrastructure as it develops payments for AI agents.

Stripe has reportedly agreed to acquire OpenRouter for more than $7 billion, according to Bloomberg and TechCrunch.

OpenRouter was valued at $1.3 billion after raising $113 million in May, making the reported deal more than five times higher.

“We do not comment on rumors or speculation,” a Stripe spokesperson told TechCrunch.

OpenRouter gives developers access to more than 500 AI models from over 80 providers through one interface.

The platform processed about 100 trillion tokens monthly in May, up fivefold from six months earlier.

Stripe is also developing payments for AI agents, including transactions using USDC (CRYPTO:USDC) through Coinbase’s x402 protocol.

Stripe is privately held, so the reported acquisition has no public share-price reaction, while OpenRouter has not announced product changes.
