Westport Fuel Systems (NASDAQ:WPRT), a global leader in alternative fuel delivery systems, confirmed today that it identified unauthorized access to its internal network on March 17, 2026.
The incident involved access to certain IT business applications and sensitive business and employee information.
While the company has not officially named the perpetrators, cybersecurity monitors reported that the Embargo ransomware group claimed responsibility for the attack on March 14, threatening to leak up to 1.8 TB of exfiltrated data.
Crucially, Westport emphasized that its manufacturing operations are managed on dedicated, separate servers that were not breached during the event.
Consequently, production, customer orders, and operational deliveries remain fully intact and undisrupted.
The company has activated its incident response protocols, engaged third-party cybersecurity experts, and is currently conducting a comprehensive forensic investigation to contain the breach and implement enhanced security layers.
The timing of the incident has forced a shift in the company’s financial reporting calendar.
Westport was originally scheduled to release its Q4 and Full Year 2025 results on March 26, 2026.
However, the company is now conducting an essential internal assessment to verify the integrity and accuracy of its financial data.
As a result, Westport expects to file its annual financial results after the mandatory March 31, 2026, continuous disclosure deadline.
Despite the breach, management currently anticipates no material impact on daily business operations.
