Specialist Risk Group, the high-growth insurance intermediary backed by heavyweights Warburg Pincus, Ecclesia, and Temasek, has planted its flag in Australia.
The strategic launch marks a major milestone in the firm’s international roadmap, with the group debuting a local service model designed to bridge the gap between regional expertise and global insurance markets.
Initially anchored in Sydney and Melbourne, the Australian arm will target mid-market clients before scaling to additional locations later this year.
The local operation launches with a sharp focus on entertainment, media, and sport, though SRG plans to rapidly diversify its specialist portfolio.
By integrating the Australian business into its existing platform across London, Singapore, and Europe, SRG aims to offer domestic clients seamless access to international capacity without losing the "boots on the ground" touch.
Group CEO Warren Downey noted that the move is a natural evolution following recent expansions in Asia-Pacific and Europe.
"Our focus is on building robust domestic specialist teams," added Laurence Basell, Managing Director for Australia, signaling an aggressive growth phase and further footprint expansion throughout 2026.
