Parsons Corp. (NYSE:PSN) has been selected by VIA Metropolitan Transit to lead the final design of the VIA Rapid Silver Line, a $322 million Advanced Rapid Transit (ART) project in San Antonio.
The contract, announced Dec. 23, 2025, solidifies the engineering firm’s dominant role in reshaping the transit landscape of the nation’s seventh-largest city.
The Silver Line will span 7.3 miles, connecting residential and employment hubs between the city’s East and West sides.
The project includes the construction or modification of 18 stations and is designed to mimic the efficiency of light rail using high-capacity buses, dedicated lanes, and transit-priority signaling.
To speed up travel times, the system will utilize off-board fare collection and level-platform boarding.
The award marks a continuation of a decades-long partnership.
Parsons has supported VIA for over 25 years and is already performing final design work on the ART Green Line.
That sister project, which connects San Antonio International Airport to the city's historic South Side, is slated to intersect with the Silver Line in the downtown district, creating a high-frequency transit "spine" for the region.
The Silver Line is a cornerstone of the "Keep SA Moving" plan, funded in part by a local sales tax shift approved by voters in 2020 and recommended for significant federal backing by the Department of Transportation.
Construction is expected to begin in 2027, with the line projected to open for passenger service in late 2029.
