Lincoln Financial Group (NYSE:LNC) delivered a strong fourth-quarter performance on Thursday, Feb. 12, 2026, beating Wall Street’s profit estimates as the "silver tsunami" of retiring Americans fueled record-high account balances across its core insurance and retirement segments.
The Radnor, Pennsylvania-based insurer reported a fourth-quarter net income of $745 million, or $3.80 per diluted share, a significant leap that outpaced the $1.90 EPS analysts had projected.
Adjusted operating income, which strips out the non-economic impacts of market risk benefits, came in at $434 million, or $2.21 per share.
The results cap a transformational year for CEO Ellen Cooper, who has steered the company through a multi-year strategic repositioning—including major reinsurance deals and expense cuts—to build a more "resilient foundation" against market volatility.
Operational strength was evident across the board: the Life Insurance segment saw a sharp year-over-year earnings boost from higher investment returns, while the Annuities and Retirement Plan Services units leveraged a booming market to hit record asset levels.
With holding company liquidity rising to $655 million, Lincoln enters 2026 with its strongest capital position in years, just as the industry prepares for what experts predict will be a record-breaking year for annuity sales.
