Knife River Corporation (NYSE:KNF) today announced the acquisition of Donaldson Brothers Ready Mix, a prominent aggregates-based supplier in western Montana.
The transaction represents Knife River’s third acquisition within its Mountain Segment in the first quarter of 2026 alone, signaling an aggressive push to consolidate high-growth, mid-sized markets in the Western United States.
Donaldson Brothers is a primary provider of essential construction materials in the Bitterroot Valley, located south of Missoula.
The acquisition includes three strategic aggregate sources with more than 30 years of proven supply, alongside a ready-mix plant and a precast concrete manufacturing facility.
This vertical integration allows Knife River to control the supply chain from raw material extraction to finished concrete products in a region experiencing sustained infrastructure and residential growth.
The move follows two other significant expansions earlier this year.
In January, the company acquired Sparrow Enterprises in Helena, Montana, and just last month, it added Salt Lake City-based Morgan Asphalt to its portfolio.
Together, these moves significantly bolster Knife River’s footprint across Utah and Montana, two states currently outperforming national averages in population growth and construction demand.
