X has lifted its ban on cryptocurrency and gambling paid promotions, removing them from its prohibited industries list and reopening the platform to monetised crypto content.
The policy shift, which reverses restrictions in place since at least June 2024, eliminates the broader financial products category from banned advertising sectors while introducing a stricter Paid Partnership framework requiring formal disclosures.
“Crypto is no longer listed under Prohibited Industries for paid promo on X,”

“The policy page changed recently. On February 16, it was still there.”
Under the updated rules, posts created as part of compensated arrangements must display a “Paid Partnership” label, with influencers responsible for complying with applicable laws including US Federal Trade Commission endorsement requirements, while prohibited Paid Partnership content may still be allowed through standard X Ads.
“Undisclosed promotions hurt the integrity of the product and lead people to distrust the content they read on X; this new feature will allow you to comply with regulations, but more importantly, it enables you to be transparent with your followers,”
