World, the identity network co-founded by Sam Altman, has launched AgentKit, a developer toolkit enabling AI agents to prove they are linked to a verified human identity.
The system combines World ID with the x402 micropayments protocol developed by Coinbase and Cloudflare, allowing agents to both verify identity and pay for access to online services.
The toolkit enables users to delegate their World ID credentials to AI agents, allowing them to interact with websites, APIs and platforms without revealing personal data.
The x402 protocol supports micropayments for digital services, with the ecosystem processing more than 100 million transactions since its launch in 2025.
World, formerly known as Worldcoin, uses biometric verification to establish proof-of-human identity, though the approach has drawn criticism over privacy and centralisation concerns.
The launch reflects a broader trend of crypto firms building infrastructure for autonomous AI agents capable of executing transactions and accessing services onchain.
Recent developments include Coinbase and Alchemy introducing tools for AI agents to manage wallets and interact with blockchain-based systems.
However, experts warn that expanding AI agent capabilities introduces new risks, particularly as systems gain access to financial infrastructure and decision-making authority.
